Overview: This course will provide students with the ability to navigate Microsoft Dynamics Ax.

Course Outline:

Module 1: Introduction to Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0

This module introduces the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. The various modules are described in addition to the interrelations between the modules. Key features and benefits of the modules are also described.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Describe the module integration in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Explain the key features of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Explain the benefits of the unique Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
     

Module 2: Demonstration of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Functionality

This module provides a demonstration of the basic functionality of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

The goals of this module is to enable students to view:

  • A demonstration of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 basic modules
  • How to create a sales order
  • How to create a purchase order
  • How to create a production order and the production process
  • Assembling an order
  • A demonstration that traces an order from Sales to Production to General ledger
     

Module 3: User Interface

This module provides an introduction to the user interface within the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 system. The base window of the program is introduced and instruction on how to maneuver within the system is provided. In addition, the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 help system is explored.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Logon to Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Navigate the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 application window
  • Find and use keyboard shortcuts
  • Use the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Help system
     

Module 4: Users

This module provides an introduction to user setup.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Create User groups
  • Create Users By Using the Active Directory Import Wizard
  • Create Users manually
  • Define parameters for the User log
  • Monitor client and server activity in the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 system
     

Module 5: Number Sequences

This module introduces creating number sequences, both manually and using a wizard. Parameters for number sequences are also discussed.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Define number sequences
  • Create number sequences using the Set up number sequences wizard
  • Create number sequences manually
  • Define parameters on number sequences
  • View references
  • View history
     

Module 6: Company Accounts

This module introduces the concept and set up of a company in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Define the company structure
  • Create a company account
  • Create domains for security
  • Create table collections
  • Create a virtual company to enable table data sharing across companies
  • Set up company information
  • Enter company information
  • Export data from Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Import data from Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
     

Module 7: Tools Menu

This module introduces the Tools menu which provides access to auxiliary tools in Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Access the employee telephone list
  • Change the system date
  • Display and use the calculator
  • Use the unit calculator to convert between different units
  • Archive print jobs
  • Switch between company accounts
  • Customize Toolbars
  • Configure user settings
     

Module 8: Command Menu

This module introduces the Command menu which provides display and action options for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • Use Go to the Main Table Form
  • Use restore feature
  • Use setup feature
  • Use hide and show features
  • Create alert rules
  • View record information
  • Unselect records
  • Use document handling feature
  • Delete records
  • Edit records
     

Module 9: Install Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0

This module introduces the core components of a Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 installation including the Application Object Server, Application file server, database, and client. In addition, students will view a single computer installation for a test/demo environment, and view how to complete the installation checklist.

The goals of this module is to enable students to:

  • List the core components of the Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 installation
  • Perform a single computer installation of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Complete the Installation checklist
  • Restart Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and verify sample data
     

Module 10: Differentiating Features

This module introduces some of the features of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 that set this product apart from other applications such as Microsoft MorphX, Business Connectors, Reporting Services in SQL Server 2005, and Integration with other Microsoft applications.

The goals of this module is to enable students to: Modify a list using MorphX

  • Use Enterprise Portal to enter a sales order
  • Access SQL data tables
  • Use SQL Server Reporting Services
