Chapter 1: Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Overview

This chapter provides an overview of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and shows some of the improvements since the last version.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the changes from previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Understand how the changes effect and benefit Partners and Customers. 

Chapter 2: Planning Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 Install

This chapter examines the hardware and software requirements that must be in place prior to installing Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand what the core computer roles are what they are used for.
  • Know the different sytstem topologies and understand when they would be used.
  • Know the software and hardware requirements for Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.
  • Know the skills necessary for installing and setting up Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0

Chapter 3: Installing a Development System

This chapter discusses how to perform a single computer install of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand when it is appropriate to use the single computer install.
  • Know how to install multiple instances of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.
  • Know how to manage Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 instances.
  • Understand what the Version Control Server is used for and how to install and set it up

Chapter 4: Installing a Core System

This chapter examines the process flow for installing Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the steps for performing a production install of Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0.
  • Know the steps for installing the SQL database, application files server, Application Object Server, and client.
  • Know how to set up AOS for load balancing

This chapter discusses the process flow for the Installation checklist.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the reasons for running the Installation Checklist.
  • Know the steps to complete the Installation Checklist.
  • Know how to run the Installation Checklist without a user

Chapter 6: Deploying Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0

This lesson examines Learn how to change Microsoft Dynamics AX configuration for both the server and client to move to a production environment, and the steps used to test Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 to make sure all the components are working correctly.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand how to change the configurations to move from a test to a production environment.
  • Know how to install additional clients.
  • Understand how to import legacy information into Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0

Chapter 7: Set up and Configure Application Integration Framework

This chapter discusses the process for setting up and configuration Application Integration Framework.

Understand what AIF is and what it is used for.

  • Know the terminology used with AIF.
  • Know the requirements for installing AIF.
  • Understand the installation procedures for AIF

  • Know how to install and setup SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services.
  • Know how to install and setup OLAP.
