Chapter 1: Introduction to the Enterprise Portal in Microsoft Dynamics AX

This module explains how to build Web applications integrated with Microsoft SharePoint Services Framework and collectively called the Enterprise Portal

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Describe the usage and purpose of the major components that comprise Enterprise Portal.
  • Identify the driving concepts behind Enterprise Portal.
  • Describe the overall architecture of Enterprise Portal

Chapter 2: Installation

This module explains how to install and configure Microsoft Dynamics AX Enterprise Portal.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Identify the prerequisites and individual software components to install an Enterprise Portal server.
  • Make simple installations the individual software components that comprise an Enterprise Portal Server.
  • Create an Enterprise Portal Web site.
  • Grant access to Enterprise Portal.
  • Set up users with an Enterprise Portal Web application.

Chapter 3: Introduction to Enterprise Portal Framework

This module explains how the Enterprise Portal utilizes SharePoint Web Part Pages to integrate Microsoft Dynamics AX data into the Enterprise Portal site.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Identify the component parts of Enterprise Portal.
  • Describe the purpose of the component parts of Enterprise Portal.
  • Navigate in the Enterprise Portal. 

Chapter 4: Customizations - SharePoint Page Design Mode

This module explains how Dynamics AX Web Parts are comprised into Web Part pages and the extensive possibilities available for customizing these Web Part pages only by using a web browser.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Identify the prerequisites and individual software components to install an Enterprise Portal server.
  • Make simple installations the individual software components that comprise an Enterprise Portal Server.
  • Create an Enterprise Portal Web site.
  • Grant access to Enterprise Portal.
  • Set up users with an Enterprise Portal Web application. 

Chapter 5: Customizations - Enterprise Portal Objects in the AOT

This module explains how to work with Dynamics AX Web Parts in the Enterprise Portal and the Web objects inside Dynamics AX. We will see how these Web object placed in the Web node in the Application Object Tree (AOT) are created and modified.

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Understand the connection between Dynamics AX Web Parts in the Enterprise Portal and Web objects inside Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Know how to create Web objects in the AOT.
  • Describe the basics of a Weblets.

Chapter 6: Creating and Managing Web Part Pages

After completing this module, students will be able to:

  • Create a Web Part Page.
  • Create a theme and add it to an Enterprise Portal Web site.
  • Import and deploy Web Part pages.
  • Know the basics of how to Manage Enterprise Portal Security.

Chapter 7: Case Study

This module train the students in how to create a functional Enterprise Portal Activity Center based on specific requirements.

  • Build a functional Enterprise Portal Activity Center based on specific requirements.
